WAKE UP GUYS...!!Sy mengakhiri kajian/ analisis sy mengenai pengurusan Kombo RTM Sabah hr ni dgn seribu keluhan...'Kesian Kombo ni..'(almost cry saying ths phrase). pls undrstand my finding below guys:

(Thx for a wnderful start Datuk).Fungsi kombo dr dlu hingga skrng msh lbh kurang sama.Sy sedih mlihat dr sudut organisasi dimana Kombo The sabah Serenades dulu berdiri dlm unit dan bajet sendiri iaitu UNIT MUZIK. Seterusnya pd tahun 1974 RTM wujudkan UNIT HIBURAN dan disub-unitkan dalam UNIT MUZIK masa tu. So jdlah UNIT HIBURAN & MUZIK hingga ke hari ni...Yg 'magic' nya Kombo skrng sdh jd 'anak cacat' kepada Unit Hiburan. Cacat krana tidak wujud langsung peruntukan kwangan tahunan utk Kombo dlm Unit Hiburan dan Muzik skrng. Kesian sbb Kombo antara unit awal berbakti d rtm tp skrng jd unit yg paling mundur dr segi kemudahan dan organisasi. Sy blm dpt alasan knapa pihak pngurusan spt lupakan lngsung jasa UNIT MUZIK sdangkan unit inilah yg paling byk mnghasilkan gelaran 'Datuk' pd golongan artis Sabah masa itu. Icon DATUK PETER PRAGAS selaku ktua sdh ckup utk jelaskn btapa besarnya sumbangan Kombo masa tu. Status jwtan kontrak sehingga skrng kekal tidak brkmbang spt jawatan unit lain. Penat ahli kombo yg brtugas dr muda smpai ke tua di RTM sama spt kakitangn lain namun sedih sy melihat 'ahli kombo pencen' sblum ni tdk djmput langsung mnghadiri mlm 'Jasamu Dikenang'. Tahap kbajikan mmg jauh n ndk snggp btl tgk 'ahli kombo pencen' yg kbnyaknnya merana skrang...ada yg 'layan' kanser, jg pintu,sumbat saluran nafas sana sini dan yg lainnya trpksa blajr hidup dgn 'bisness' pd usia yg terlalu byk prlukn rehat. Kombo yg ada skrng kl x bantu kbjikn 'ahli kombo pencen' maka bgitu jglah keadaan kt nanti...Sangguppp??? Utk Pihak Pngurusan RTM, my managemnt team sdh hntr proposal mhon bajet mcm sebuah unit baru..mohon dipermudahkan sbb kmi tpksa menyewa or beli sndiri pralatan kerja kmi stakt ini. Ahli Kombo Baru... Sorry guys i hv to say this..kt msh trlalu jauh utk mncapai level muzik pd zaman Dtk Peter Pragas dan jelas skali kjatuhan UNIT MUZIK RTM Sabah jglah membawa kepada keruntuhan industri muzik di Sabah. Mohon maaf kepada smua pihak atas laporan terbuka ini yg fokusnya utk memperbaiki sistem dan keperihatinan Jabatan Kerajaan di Sabah. Next need to dig out file 1974 or to meet Dtk Peter Pragas directly untk jelaskan isu ke 3. Semasa Kombo berada dalam Unit sendiri, apa level pengurusan tertinggi..? By logic Ketua unit Muzik masa tu shld be B41 (Ahli Muzik)...Tp yg ada sekarang B41 (Penerbit) sbg Ketua Unit Hiburan dan Muzik...Mana perginya B41 (Muzik) sbb Kombo sdh kehilangan Hak bersuara diperingkat atasan, inilah punca KOMBO kehilangan status UNIT MUZIK dan PERUNTUKAN KEWANGANNYA....Kesian KOMBO..

Firstly i would like to thank all the previous leaders starting from Datuk Peter Pragas, Zamry, Ronald James, Basel, Richard Kim and to those not mentioned...Thank You for... See More all the years of service and contributions that you have given to the people of Sabah...Now down to business... Thank You Suhaimie for your in depth statements and almost all what was stated, sadly to say, is very very true....About the appreciation of Contract Officers, No yearly allocation of budget for the Music Department and of course Music department standing as its own unit...But Kombo RTM Sabah now has new,young and talented members...'WE' are working on creating a new image for the Kombo with one goal in 'OUR' hands...that is to to bring the music industry in Sabah to the highest level in line with the 1 Malaysia concept and to bring the identity or culture of Sabah to the eyes of the world...'WE' have been with the Kombo for only 6 months now and we can see changes that is being done...it may be slow, but in time vast changes will be done...In terms of recordings, documentations and also performance wise.... Yes, we strive to build this Kombo in terms of more players and a better management team....yes we would want to improve the quality of our instruments and equipments, our welfare to be taken care of....but one thing at a time... Sincerely,I love the 'taste of etnicity' in RTM which i think the best place to present '1 Malaysia'. In fact Sabah Combo itself from the past generations always group's in Indian, Chienese, Malay and Ethnic of Sabah faces to prove our unity as '1 Malaysia'. First of all I wish to congratulate SJ for his braveness to raise weaknesses encountered by Kombo RTM. Such braveness has it own price to pay for, for those who dare to venture such braveness, and that exactly what had happened to me during my tenure at Hiburan & Musik (2003-07). I was sacked out for doing things which they considered as ‘not ... See Morecensored and approved’ by the management. I therefore labeled as an officer who do thing just according to my wham and fancy. I’ve seen those weaknesses and when the then Hiburan & Musik Unit Controller, Baharudzaman Hj Ampon was at helm, he was able to hold back some unwise decision by those people up there in RTM Sabah. But soon after his retirement Kombo RTM became defendless. It was worsened by departure of Richard Kim whose contract wasn’t renewed. RTM Sabah probably hold the Malaysian Book of Record for being the most frequent having meeting week in week out. But the result are hardly seen. None of-course can be considered as more important and prominent unit including Kombo RTM in holding the integrity and image of RTM Sabah. But Kombo RTM is seemed to be always left-out. During it hey-day Combo RTM was playing such a prominent role. I remember Kombo RTM was the frontlines at whatever state official celebration and function like Independent Day. But now those role was taken-over by Lembaga Kebudayaan, DBKK and now Information Dept’s Pentarama is now overtaking Kombo RTM. Why.? Is it because we don’t have talented musicians.? NO. I was doing mc for titian Mesa since those days when Ronald James, Jaafar Zainuddin and Richard Kim were still there. And although now that I’m as good as finish, but I know you guys (Kombo RTM) are no less talented. I’ve worked with you all either in an group or in a separate occasions and most vividly I remember the first Anugerah Juara Carta Cats 2006 at UMS Dewan Counselor where all of you were involved forming the 1st ever Orchestra RTM-UMS combination. RTM Sabah must wake-up to see your need as competition is tense now. Kombo RTM always left-out from the state main event due to lack of people’s perception of Kombo RTM which is always seen as an orange tua-tua kind of music. This is due to all kind of restrictions and shortcomings. Financial support, Lack of understand from the higher authority. Lack of better instrument and sound system as well as other supporting manpower. When Hashim Jaffrey was transferred from Penang to Sabah as the Deputy Director, there was the idea to close down Kombo RTM and even a possible revocation of Unit Hiburan & Musik and just put them under the jurisdiction of Sabahfm. But that didn’t materialize as there were directive the then Minster to instead set-up kombo RTM at every state station. So HJ decision showed how small hearted are some of our big bosses down here. They should have seen how Kombo RTM was an asset and not a liability to RTM Sabah. And the wise action they should have done was to propose to Angkasapuri to have our musicians the status of Tetap & Berpencen status as a kind of gratitude to their services. Luckily in Sabah we don’t the kind situation in KL. Otherwise Kombo RTM Sabah would lose to other organization who set-up their own combo or orchestra. So Kombo RTM Sabah fight you causes guys!. I support you with my prayer and fervent hope that someday you’ll achieve at least 50% of those you are wishing for. All the best guys..

Great support..thx..I jst met Mr. Ronald James and another sad tune for being 'Kombo Pencen Club'..Serving RTM as contract officer, n leaving without single piece of appreciation letter frm RTM. He told me abt this for more than 10 times as i remembered, since he was my very best Music Lecturer also last time. Another soft spoken Richard Kim that... See More purposely named me as a guest musician for Combo since the last 8 years. He was d man begging me all heart to do smthng to survive Combo. Since than i studied every angle of Combo n d treatment jst abt to kick off. Looking at these two frustrated Chienese gentlemen on cntract officer's welfare, it really sounds givng 'Bad Impact' not only to RTM Sabah but.... Governmnt..So any posibility of supporting 1 M'sia for them?

To all readers of SJ wall & SJ himself, I'm so sorry, a lot of grammatical & spelling error occured at my last response and therefore it may cause you the difficulty to the understand the content. It was written & posted by me late midnight lastnight. Tho' quite sleepy & tired I tried to give response, as SJ 'revelation' was really tempting to ... See Morereact. What was told to you by these 'Pencen Club' members was really heartening. Despite all their efforts, not even an appreciation letter given or an invitation extended. Tho' they were just contract officers, their services were more than enough for anybody to realize what a tremendous efforts they displayed while in RTM Sabah. I'm still questioning why Hashim Jaffrey party perpisahan was held a 5-star hotel. I hope SPRM and PAC would check this out why. Managment always gave excuses of habis duit habis bajet and therefore cannot buy this buy that and we are deprieved of overtime claims ect. They should have done it at Pentaran Mesra whereby all of us can join. Cut the cost & foster rapport & relationship among us.

-Giving Once a Month Slot to Combo OLD BOYS to perform in Rancangan Combo (Radio Programme) to be paid as proffesional musician rate of RM500(Min) per musician.

This issue is related to the Sabah's state economy. skrg ni negeri concerntrate 3 Main industry yang paling banyak contribution dalam perkembangan economy Sabah iaitu Agriculture, Tourism dan Manufacturing.

Tahap kbajikan mmg jauh n ndk snggp btl tgk 'ahli kombo pencen' yg kbnyaknnya merana skrang...ada yg 'layan' kanser, jg pintu,sumbat saluran nafas sana sini dan yg lainnya trpksa blajr hidup dgn 'bisness' pd usia yg terlalu byk prlukn rehat. Firstly i would like to thank all the previous leaders starting from Datuk Peter Pragas, Zamry, Ronald James, Basel, Richard Kim and to those not mentioned...Thank You for... See More all the years of service and contributions that you have given to the people of Sabah...Now down to business... Thank You Suhaimie for your in depth statements and almost all what was stated, sadly to say, is very very true....About the appreciation of Contract Officers, No yearly allocation of budget for the Music Department and of course Music department standing as its own unit...But Kombo RTM Sabah now has new,young and talented members...'WE' are working on creating a new image for the Kombo with one goal in 'OUR' hands...that is to to bring the music industry in Sabah to the highest level in line with the 1 Malaysia concept and to bring the identity or culture of Sabah to the eyes of the world...'WE' have been with the Kombo for only 6 months now and we can see changes that is being done...it may be slow, but in time vast changes will be done...In terms of recordings, documentations and also performance wise.... Yes, we strive to build this Kombo in terms of more players and a better management team....yes we would want to improve the quality of our instruments and equipments, our welfare to be taken care of....but one thing at a time... First of all I wish to congratulate SJ for his braveness to raise weaknesses encountered by Kombo RTM. Such braveness has it own price to pay for, for those who dare to venture such braveness, and that exactly what had happened to me during my tenure at Hiburan & Musik (2003-07). I was sacked out for doing things which they considered as ‘not ... See Morecensored and approved’ by the management. I therefore labeled as an officer who do thing just according to my wham and fancy. I’ve seen those weaknesses and when the then Hiburan & Musik Unit Controller, Baharudzaman Hj Ampon was at helm, he was able to hold back some unwise decision by those people up there in RTM Sabah. But soon after his retirement Kombo RTM became defendless. It was worsened by departure of Richard Kim whose contract wasn’t renewed. RTM Sabah probably hold the Malaysian Book of Record for being the most frequent having meeting week in week out. But the result are hardly seen. None of-course can be considered as more important and prominent unit including Kombo RTM in holding the integrity and image of RTM Sabah. But Kombo RTM is seemed to be always left-out. During it hey-day Combo RTM was playing such a prominent role. I remember Kombo RTM was the frontlines at whatever state official celebration and function like Independent Day. But now those role was taken-over by Lembaga Kebudayaan, DBKK and now Information Dept’s Pentarama is now overtaking Kombo RTM. Why.? Is it because we don’t have talented musicians.? NO. I was doing mc for titian Mesa since those days when Ronald James, Jaafar Zainuddin and Richard Kim were still there. And although now that I’m as good as finish, but I know you guys (Kombo RTM) are no less talented. I’ve worked with you all either in an group or in a separate occasions and most vividly I remember the first Anugerah Juara Carta Cats 2006 at UMS Dewan Counselor where all of you were involved forming the 1st ever Orchestra RTM-UMS combination. RTM Sabah must wake-up to see your need as competition is tense now. Kombo RTM always left-out from the state main event due to lack of people’s perception of Kombo RTM which is always seen as an orange tua-tua kind of music. This is due to all kind of restrictions and shortcomings. Financial support, Lack of understand from the higher authority. Lack of better instrument and sound system as well as other supporting manpower. When Hashim Jaffrey was transferred from Penang to Sabah as the Deputy Director, there was the idea to close down Kombo RTM and even a possible revocation of Unit Hiburan & Musik and just put them under the jurisdiction of Sabahfm. But that didn’t materialize as there were directive the then Minster to instead set-up kombo RTM at every state station. So HJ decision showed how small hearted are some of our big bosses down here. They should have seen how Kombo RTM was an asset and not a liability to RTM Sabah. And the wise action they should have done was to propose to Angkasapuri to have our musicians the status of Tetap & Berpencen status as a kind of gratitude to their services. Luckily in Sabah we don’t the kind situation in KL. Otherwise Kombo RTM Sabah would lose to other organization who set-up their own combo or orchestra. So Kombo RTM Sabah fight you causes guys!. I support you with my prayer and fervent hope that someday you’ll achieve at least 50% of those you are wishing for. All the best guys..

Great support..thx..I jst met Mr. Ronald James and another sad tune for being 'Kombo Pencen Club'..Serving RTM as contract officer, n leaving without single piece of appreciation letter frm RTM. He told me abt this for more than 10 times as i remembered, since he was my very best Music Lecturer also last time. Another soft spoken Richard Kim that... See More purposely named me as a guest musician for Combo since the last 8 years. He was d man begging me all heart to do smthng to survive Combo. Since than i studied every angle of Combo n d treatment jst abt to kick off. Looking at these two frustrated Chienese gentlemen on cntract officer's welfare, it really sounds givng 'Bad Impact' not only to RTM Sabah but.... Governmnt..So any posibility of supporting 1 M'sia for them?

What was told to you by these 'Pencen Club' members was really heartening. Despite all their efforts, not even an appreciation letter given or an invitation extended. Tho' they were just contract officers, their services were more than enough for anybody to realize what a tremendous efforts they displayed while in RTM Sabah. I'm still questioning why Hashim Jaffrey party perpisahan was held a 5-star hotel. I hope SPRM and PAC would check this out why. Managment always gave excuses of habis duit habis bajet and therefore cannot buy this buy that and we are deprieved of overtime claims ect. They should have done it at Pentaran Mesra whereby all of us can join. Cut the cost & foster rapport & relationship among us.

The place of beginning to learn all new things in Music Management, facing lots of responsibility to guarantee music student’s future in Sabah. Just 1 year immediate stay with double hardwork leaving me with the following color of achievements:
-Restructuring the syllabus of Diploma in Music Studies to comply with current market needs.
-Receive the Certificate of Approval from Lembaga Akreditasi Negara (LAN) to conduct Diploma in Music course legally (first approval to conduct diploma in music course in Sabah).
-JIAJA (music students of S.I.A) Champions in Blasst Off 2005 band competition by ASTRO (National level)
-Promoting S.I.A through various music performances within the state and national level to get more network in music industry.
-Getting another 4 full time music lecturers and 5 part time music lecturers post to handle diploma in music course . (Jessel, Rotiwa, Dourrey and Vellerie among my coolest teammates-Thanks for ur hardwork guys)
-Job Spec: Music Studies Management (Music Studies Coordinator), Lecturer(Drum lecturer, Music Industry, Ear Training), Performing (SIA Band, Kombo RTM Guest Percussionist/Drummer, UMS-Sabah Community Orchestra), Judging (Professional judge in local Singing and Band Competition)
